About this activity

Our most popular climb, the classic Rinjani. This 3 days Mount Rinjani summit trek climbs from the Sembalun grasslands to the crater rim, summits Indonesia’s second-highest volcano (3,726 m) at sunrise, then descends into the caldera to the Segara Anak crater lake and its hot springs, before crossing to the Senaru rim and down through rainforest to Senaru village. Summit, lake and hot springs, in a well-paced three-day adventure. Fully supported by a professional guide, porters and a mountain cook — we’ve been guiding this route since 2006.

Your Rinjani Adventure Starts Here

Watching the sun rise from the roof of Lombok, with the whole caldera glowing beneath you, is a feeling that’s hard to describe and impossible to forget. And reaching it is more achievable than you might think.

Rinjani is a real mountain and we’ll always be straight with you about that — but you don’t need to be an athlete to love this trek. With a positive attitude, a steady pace and our local team beside you, the summit is genuinely within reach for everyday adventurers. We welcome many fitness levels, pace the days around you, and keep the whole climb feeling supported, safe and fun.

Why Trek Rinjani With Us

We’re a local Lombok team, raised around this mountain, guiding the Mount Rinjani summit trek since 2006. Our guides share the legends, spot the wildlife and edelweiss, and keep spirits high on the steep bits. Learn more on our Mount Rinjani destination page, part of a UNESCO Global Geopark. The 3-day is the sweet spot — the full summit-lake-hot-springs experience at a sensible pace.

And certified, first-aid trained local guides who are equal parts expert, storyteller and cheerleader.

Frequently asked questions

We pace to the most comfortable walker, never the fastest, and your guide stays with you. No rushing, no one left behind.

Private, clean toilet tents at every campsite — comfort and privacy sorted.

Always our first priority. Certified, first-aid trained guides, careful weather and wellbeing checks, and nearly two decades guiding this mountain.

Just a few personal essentials — good walking shoes, warm layers for the summit, a rain jacket, sunscreen and a small daypack. We'll send you a simple, complete packing list when you book, and we provide all the camping and cooking equipment. No special gear needed.

The 3-day is the complete experience at a sensible pace — ideal for most. Choose the 4-day for an extra rest/hot-springs day, or the 2-day summit if you're fit and short on time.

It's the toughest part — an early, steady climb on volcanic scree — but you go at your own pace with your guide beside you. The sunrise at the top is worth every step.

April to October (dry season) for the clearest skies and safest trails. The park usually closes around January–March.

A good level of everyday fitness helps. The Day 2 pre-dawn summit push is the hardest part, but we pace it to the group, rest often, and cheer you on. Plenty of our happiest trekkers were nervous first-timers.
