After an early morning pick-up from your hotel, we transfer to Sembalun Village (1,156m), the starting point of the trek. After a briefing at the Rinjani Trek Centre, begin the hike through the vast open savannah, gradually ascending towards Pos 1 (1,300m) and Pos 2 (1,500m) for short rest stops. Continuing the trek, we pass Pos 3 (1,800m) before tackling the steep ascent to Pelawangan Sembalun Crater Rim (2,700m). Arriving in the late afternoon, set up camp and witness the stunning sunset overlooking Segara Anak Lake and the surrounding mountain ranges. Enjoy a hearty dinner before resting for the early morning summit climb.
Wake up before dawn for the final ascent to Mount Rinjani’s summit. The trek to the 3,726-meter peak is challenging, with loose volcanic sand and steep inclines, but the reward is breathtaking—the best sunrise view in Indonesia, stretching across Lombok, Bali, and Sumbawa. After celebrating your achievement, descend back to Pelawangan Crater Rim for breakfast. Then, begin the return journey through the same route, passing Sembalun Village, where our driver will be waiting to transfer you back to your hotel or Teluk Nare pier for a boat transfer to Gili islands. Arrive in the late afternoon, concluding this Mount Rinjani trekking adventure.
This trek is considered challenging due to the steep ascent and long trekking hours. It is recommended for experienced hikers with good fitness levels.
The best time is April to December, during the dry season, for clear skies and safe trekking conditions. The rainy season (January–March) is not recommended.
Essentials include trekking shoes, warm clothing, gloves, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, a headlamp, and a personal first aid kit. A full packing list will be provided upon booking.
