Gili Trawangan is the largest and liveliest of Lombok’s three Gili Islands — a car-free tropical paradise of white-sand beaches, turquoise water and coral reefs full of turtles. Known affectionately as “Gili T,” it blends laid-back island life with the best dining, diving and nightlife of the Gilis. Yet its northern and western shores stay wonderfully quiet, so there’s a corner for everyone.
Things to Do on Gili Trawangan
There’s plenty to enjoy. Snorkel or dive with sea turtles on the surrounding reefs. Cycle the flat 7km loop around the island. Watch the sunset over Bali’s Mount Agung from the western beaches and famous swings.
As evening falls, the main strip comes alive with restaurants and bars. With no cars or motorbikes, you get around on foot, by bicycle or by cidomo horse cart.
