Gili Meno is the smallest and quietest of Lombok’s three Gili Islands — the one you choose when you truly want to switch off. Sitting between its livelier sisters, Meno is all soft white sand, glass-clear water and unhurried days. There are no cars, no crowds and very little to do on purpose: this is the honeymoon island, the digital-detox island, the “let’s just watch the sea” island — and travellers adore it for exactly that.
Things to Do on Gili Meno
Meno’s magic is in the water. The island arguably has the best beaches of the three, and its reefs are home to so many sea turtles that sightings are almost guaranteed — Turtle Point off the northeast coast is famous for them.
Just offshore sits one of Indonesia’s most photographed snorkeling sites: the circle of underwater statues, hauntingly beautiful in the clear blue. On land, stroll the island loop in about an hour, visit the small turtle sanctuary, and claim a stretch of sand that’s often entirely yours.
Who Gili Meno Suits Best
Meno is made for couples, honeymooners and anyone craving genuine peace — the travellers who measure a good day in sunsets rather than activities. Nights are quiet and early; that’s the point. If you’d like a little more life around you, look at Gili Air; for the most social island, it’s Gili Trawangan. Or read our friendly guide to which Gili is right for you.
How to Get to Gili Meno
Fast boats run from Bali (1.5–2.5 hours), and from Lombok’s Bangsal harbour it’s a short hop of around 20 minutes; local island-hopping boats also connect Meno with Gili T and Gili Air daily. We arrange all transfers, so getting to your quiet paradise is completely effortless. More on the Gili Islands and Lombok pages.
Good to Know Getting around — car-free and tiny; the full island loop is an easy one-hour walk. Best season — April to October for the calmest, clearest water. Money — very limited ATMs on Meno; bring cash from Lombok or Gili T. Snorkeling — Turtle Point and the underwater statues are both reachable from the beach.
