Grand Java Overland — 9 Day Jakarta to Bromo Tour

Java overland tour is the ultimate west-to-east journey across Indonesia’s heartland island. Over nine days you’ll travel from the capital Jakarta through the cool tea highlands of Bandung, into cultural Yogyakarta with its great temples, and on to the volcanic wonders of Mount Bromo and Ijen. It’s the complete Java, from bustling cities to sacred temples to smoking craters.

As a local Indonesian operator since 2006, we handle the trains, transfers, jeeps and guides, so the long journey flows seamlessly.

Why Choose This Java Overland Tour

You experience all of Java, deeply and in sequence. Explore Jakarta’s old town, then the tea plantations and volcano of the Bandung highlands. Watch sunrise over Borobudur and explore Prambanan. Ride across Mount Bromo’s sea of sand at dawn, and hike to Ijen’s electric-blue fire. The journey ends near Bali. With nine days, there’s time to see it properly. See our full Java destination page, or extend to Bali.

What to Expect

This grand tour flows from west to east — cities, highlands, temples, then volcanoes. Expect a mix of comfortable scenic trains and private transport, long but rewarding travel days, and very early starts for the volcano sunrises. Accommodation ranges from city hotels to simple volcano lodges. It’s a comprehensive, varied adventure through the soul of Java.
